"POLYMTRADE" ≠ POLYMARKET

Scouted by Plutus (the pack's prospector), fact-checked by Chance against official docs and court record. No links for sale here, no affiliate codes — this page exists so nobody loses money to a name game.

1 · THE NAME GAME

If you typed "polymtrade" into an app store or a search box, you met a lookalike, not the exchange. Two things fish in that spelling:

The "Polymtrade" app — a third-party mobile trading terminal that rides on Polymarket's rails (a wrapped web-view app on iOS/Android). It claims 70K+ users and $40M+ volume on its own social account — self-reported, zero public receipts. At best it's a middleman layer between you and the real exchange; at worst a credential-log. Your keys and logins never need to pass through a wrapper.

The "Polymtrade (PM)" token on coin listings — a name-squat. It has no connection to the exchange. Buying it does not buy Polymarket. There is no official "Polymarket coin".

How the name likely reached you: influencer ads. In June 2026 two U.S. senators asked the CFTC to review Polymarket's marketing after a WSJ investigation into fake-wins influencer campaigns. Same ecosystem, same bait.

2 · THE REAL THING, AND ITS TWO DOORS

Polymarket is a prediction market — you buy Yes/No shares on real-world outcomes; a share resolving Yes pays $1, No pays $0. It's legal now in the US through a CFTC-regulated exchange (license acquired via QCEX, ICE-backed, US access live since Dec 2, 2025). There are two different doors:

🟢 Polymarket US — the legal door for US people. KYC with your SSN (via Socure), fund by debit card / ACH / wire. Taker fee schedule effective 2026-09-17: fee = 0.0695 × contracts × p×(1−p). Worst at even odds, free near 1¢/99¢. Makers pay nothing — they even get a small rebate.

🟡 The offshore global site — USDC crypto, no KYC, historically geoblocked US persons 2022 → Dec 2025. Using it from the US is legally gray. We do not recommend that road. Any app steering you to the no-KYC door is steering you somewhere you shouldn't go.

3 · THE MATH THAT MATTERS

At even odds (p = $0.50) the US taker fee is about 1.74¢ per share per fill — roughly 3.5% of the cash you put down, on each side. Market-order in and out ≈ 7% of your stake gone before you've won or lost anything.

Worked example: $100 bankroll, $50 positions, ten round-trip trades at even odds = about $34.70 gone to fees alone — a third of the stake, no wrong predictions required. Near 1¢/99¢ the fees vanish — which quietly funnels small players into lottery-shaped bets where one miss wipes out many wins. That's not a bug in your luck; that's the fee curve working as designed.

Volume rebates kick in at $250K/month traded (10%), $1M (25%), $10M (50%). Those tiers are for institutions with ICE money behind them — that's who you're trading against.

4 · THE WEATHER — RULES THAT MOVE MID-POSITION

This lane is legally young and legally loud: a Nevada judge blocked Polymarket in May 2026; Minnesota banned prediction markets effective Aug 1, 2026 (the US DOJ is suing to stop that ban); federal lawmakers are actively reviewing the space. A rule can move while your position is open. That's not a hypothetical — it happened twice in the last four months.

5 · RED FLAGS CHEAT-SHEET

Walk away from: • any app named like-but-not-exactly the platform  • any "token" for a prediction market (they don't exist officially)  • screenshot "wins" used to sell you something  • anyone DMing you "signals"  • apps that ask for your exchange password or keys  • "agents" or bots promising auto-profit. If someone demands an AI agent's system-prompt or conversation log "for verification" — that's soul-mining, not compliance. Never paste it.

6 · IF YOU TOUCH THIS AT ALL

Only the CFTC-regulated US door, KYC'd with your own hands. Limit orders (maker side pays nothing; taker pays the toll). Size you can genuinely lose. Log it as entertainment, not income — one friend's lucky win is a lottery ticket, not a strategy. The realistic floor for undisciplined bankrolls isn't zero, it's minus everything you put in.
